02Session storage
What the standard finder keeps in your browser
The standard finder remembers your answers while you use it. It does this in your browser, not on our server.
- What
- Two items. The first, named "nw-finder-answers", holds your answers to the standard finder's questions. The second, named "nw-finder", is stored only if you press the button that sends your answers with a consultation request. It holds a summary of those answers and the standards they pointed to.
- Where
- In your browser's session storage, on your own device. It is not a cookie, and your browser does not send it to us with each page.
- Why
- So that going back a step or reloading the page does not lose your answers, and so that the consultation form can pick them up if you ask it to.
- How long
- Until you close the tab. The summary is also removed when the consultation form has been sent.
- How to clear it
- Press "Start again" at the end of the finder, which removes both items. On the consultation form, "Remove these answers" removes the summary. Closing the tab, or clearing this site's data in your browser's settings, removes everything.
The answers leave your browser only if you choose to send them with the consultation form. The privacy policy says what happens then.
03The host
What the hosting provider may set
This site reaches you through our hosting provider's network. That network may set a short-lived technical cookie of its own when it carries out a security check, for example to tell a browser from an automated program. We do not set that cookie and we do not read it.
If this changes
If we ever add a cookie, an analytics tool or anything loaded from another company, this page changes first.
